Selena Gomez is teaming up with Univision to create a new true-crime series. The Only Murders in the Building star, 29, will serve as an executive producer for a new Spanish docuseries, Mi Vecino, El Carte (The Cartel Among Us).

Gomez is investigating the Arconia and Texas. The three-part docuseries will dive into the murder of former cartel lawyer, and U.S. cooperator, Juan Guerrero Chapa along with the trail. The actress expressed her interest in the case.

“As a true crime fan, I was immediately captivated when I heard the story surrounding the homicide of Juan Guerrero Chapa. Not only did it take place close to my hometown in Texas, but it was also a story, unlike anything I’ve ever heard. “I am excited to partner with Univision and really pull back the layers of his double life” Gomez stated.

The docuseries will explore how a murder uncovered the secrets of the cartels in America. In addition, it will reveal the drama and thirst for vengeance among families.

“As we build the largest Spanish-language streaming platform in the world and an indispensable service to this audience, one of our top priorities is bringing diverse voices and stories and investing in Latin storytellers,” Rodrigo Mazon, executive vice president, general manager of SVOD at Univision said in a statement. “We are proud to welcome Selena Gomez to our roster of globally acclaimed creators that will help create the best in-language, in-culture original content.”

This docuseries isn’t Gomez’s first time producing a show. The young Grammy-winning artist produced the Netflix series, 13 Reasons Why and executive produced Only Murders in the Building. Mi Vecino, El Carten will air on Univison’s streaming service in Spanish once it’s available. While fans wait for more information, 13 Reasons Why can be streamed on Netflix and season one of Only Murders in the Building on Hulu.
