Kristen Stewart Snubbed of SAG Awards Nomination for Spencer
Each year, the Screen Actors Guild announces their list of nominees, which is accompanied by an inevitable list of snubs with actors that didn’t make the cut. This year, Kristen Stewart is headlining as the most shocking SAG snub following her emotional performance in Spencer.

The SAG released the 2022 nominees on Wednesday, June 12. Stewart was noticeably absent from the list despite predictions. For Female Actors in a Leading Role, the nominated included Lady Gaga (House of Gucci), Olivia Colman (The Lost Daughter), Nicole Kidman (Being the Ricardos), Jennifer Hudson (Respect), and Jessica Chastain (The Eyes of Tammy Faye).

Stewart has received great praise for her depiction of Diana, with audiences giving the actress a three-minute standing ovation at Spencer’s Venice premiere. Many were pleasantly surprised to watch the Twilight actress take on a darker role.

In Spencer, we witness a holiday at the Sandringham Estate during a pivotal time in Charles and Diana’s marriage. Pablo Larraín touts the film as “a fable from a true tragedy,” and we soon learn from watching Diana painfully eat pearls in her pea soup that there are many symbolic elements at play.
The tension is evident in each scene as cinematographer Claire Mathon plays with cluttered wide shots or extreme closeness to “create an intimacy,” Larraín explained. These elements, combined with Stewart’s performance, quickly put her in talks for awards.

Some say this is the end of the actress’s Oscar run, but not all hope is lost. Stewart has already been nominated for the Golden Globe Award and Critics’ Choice Movie Award for Best Actress and earned the title as the most awarded actress this season with a combined 18 Critics Associations awards.
