Jennifer Hudson Stuns Black Carpet at Movie Premiere Night for ‘Respect’ In a Dazzling Ensemble

Jennifer Hudson made her sparkling entrance at the premiere for the upcoming biopic, Respect in an eye-catching gown that commanded just that. The Dreamgirls star illuminated as she posed in an all-purple Dolce & Gabbana gown and matching veil.

Jennifer Hudson gracefully lets fans know she understood the assignment by making a grand sparkling appearance at last night’s premiere for Respect.

The award-winning singer and actress donned a custom purple Dolce & Gabbana sequined gown that featured a sultry high slit and a long elegant train that screamed royalty and R-E-S-P-E-C-T. The gorgeous gown was paired with a matching floor-length chiffon veil and minimal, yet dazzling Bulgari jewels.

Before shimmering her way down the black carpet at the Regency Village and Bruin Theatre in LA, Hudson took to her Instagram and posted a tribute to the Queen of Soul herself.

It could be major pressure since the Queen hand-picked Hudson herself, let alone why it’s no surprise as to why fans are eager to finally see how well the 39-year-old channels the great Aretha Franklin. However, she remains unwaveringly confident that her portrayal won’t disappoint.

Hudson told PEOPLE magazine:

“Even when I do a tribute, I like the people I’m honoring to be able to see themselves how we see them. They never really get to see themselves. So it’s like, ‘How can I help you get to see how we see you?'”

Actor and Comedian Marlon Wayans who plays Ted White, Franklin’s first husband and former manager was also in attendance at the big premiere. Other celebrity guests included Timbaland, Jordin Sparks, Michael K. Williams, Debbie Allen, Tori Kelly, Derek Hough, Jennifer Holiday, and more.
