The Proud Family Is Back in Action on Disney+
The Proud Family reboot The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder is officially streaming on Disney+ for all to watch and enjoy.
Disney+ announced the revival series back in February 2020. Disney also revealed the cast and guest stars shortly after, making it impossible for viewers not to anticipate the series.
The cast is full of talent, with many original stars and new stars hitting the scene. Kyla Pratt is reprising her role as Penny Proud, followed by Tommy Davidson as Oscar Proud, Paula Jai Parker as Trudy Proud, JoMarie Payton as Suga Mama, Cedric “The Entertainer” as Uncle Bobby, Karen Malina White as Dijonay Jones, Alisa Reyes as LaCienega Boulevardez, and Soleil Moon Frye as Zoey Howzer.
Along with the familiar faces, the series has a few new ones. EJ Johnson will voice Michael Collins, Asante Blackk will voice Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Brown, Billy Porter with Zachary Quinto will voice husbands Randall and Barry. Keke Palmer also will be a recurring new cast member as Maya, the daughter of Randall and Barry, and Artist “A Boogie” Dubose will voice Francis.
“I’d always hoped we’d come back,” Pratt stated to D23. “I’ve had so many people come up to me throughout the years, telling me how much The Proud Family meant to them. I’m excited to be a part of something that started so long ago and is still so beloved to this day. Now, we get to come back and do a newer, improved, updated version – 2022 style!”
The animated series will have a new spin on the life and adventures of Penny Proud with her beloved group of friends. The series’ overall atmosphere is still the same but with a modern twist to appeal to its new-age audience. The theme song is included in that twist with Joyce Wrice’s rendition, which was initially preformed by Destiny’s Child.
Many are tweeting about their love for the new reboot, so we can already tell that this will be the new era of the nostalgic animated family series.
