The Met Gala supports the Costume Institution and celebrates its current exhibition, titled “In America: An Anthology of Fashion.” The event is returning on the first Monday in May at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.

As first revealed by Friedman, the theme is “Glided Glamour”. “Point is: this one is going to be very dressed-up indeed,” she added. The Gilded Age ran roughly from 1870 to 1900, the era is known for major industrialization, as well as its iconic fashion.

This year’s theme and exhibition, In America: An Anthology of Fashion will be the second part of the Met’s homage to America’s history. In 2021, the first part of the event titled, “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion,” took place in September due to the pandemic.

The exhibition for part one of In America: A Lexicon of Fashion is still available to view at the Anna Wintour Costume Center. It includes pieces from American designers such as Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, and Donna Karan.

The 2022 Met Gala will return on the first Monday of May at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. On May 7th, Anthology of Fashion will open to the public. Make sure to keep an eye out for more details as the date approaches.
