Britney Spears Announces New Pregnancy
On Monday, 40-year-old singer Britney Spears took to Instagram to announce that she is expecting her first child with fiancé Sam Asghari. In her caption, Spears shared that she had recently lost weight for her trip to Maui and was surprised when she suddenly gained it back. At first, Asghari joked that his future wife was “food pregnant.” However, Spears quickly put that theory to rest. “So I got a pregnancy test …” the singer-songwriter wrote. “And uhhhhh well … I am having a baby.”
The news comes five months after the end of Spears’ 13-year conservatorship. In a shocking testimony in June 2021, the star revealed she had wanted another baby for quite some time. However, she claimed her conservators prohibited her from having her IUD removed. “I want to be able to get married and have a baby,” Spears told the court last summer. “I was told right now in the conservatorship, I’m not able to get married or have a baby.”
Spears currently shares two teenage sons with her ex-husband Kevin Federline. Nearly 16 years after the birth of her second son Jayden James, she is now expecting her third. However, this will be Asghari’s first experience with parenthood. On Monday, he shared his thoughts on his fiancé’s pregnancy in an Instagram post.
“Marriage and kids are a natural part of a strong relationship filled with love and respect,” Asghari wrote. “Fatherhood is something I have always looked forward to and I don’t take lightly. It is the most important job I will ever do.”
While news of Spears’ pregnancy is exciting, don’t expect to be seeing a lot of the star. In her recent Instagram announcement, the star told followers she won’t be going out much to avoid the paparazzi. Having suffered from perinatal depression in the past, she plans to stay out of the public eye during this time.
