New Series The Summer I Turned Pretty Is Coming Soon
Jenny Han’s young adult novel series, The Summer I Turned Pretty, will be turned into a television series on Prime Video this summer. The show will be released on June 17, starring Lola Tung as Isabel “Belly” Conklin.
Han is known for her iconic series, To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before. Her YA novels give readers the juiciest stories about young love and more. The Summer I Turned Pretty is a drama that focuses on a love triangle between one girl and two brothers. Not only is it an exciting love story, but the series also uncovers the relationship between mother and daughter and female friendships. It’s a coming-of-age story filled with romance, comedy, and heartbreak.
“It’s all the thrill and excitement of first love and what it’s like to really love someone from afar your whole life and then suddenly be interacting with them in a new way,” Han states in an interview with Entertainment Weekly about the upcoming show. “I hope people fall in love with Belly and these families,” she continues. “It really is about growing up and coming into your own and that loss of innocence.”
The Summer I Turned Pretty will feature Lola Tung, Jackie Chung, Rachel Blanchard, Christopher Briney, Gavin Casalegno, Sean Kaufman, Alfredo Narciso, and Minnie Mills, with Colin Ferguson and Tom Everett Scott. The entire cast has loved reading Han’s book and sharing their excitement for the series on Instagram.
