Blake Lively Brings Gilded Glamour to the 2022 Met Gala
Blake Lively is known to never disappoint at the Met Gala, and the 2022 carpet is no exception. The Met Gala goddess took commentators’ and fans’ breaths away as she walked the carpet at the top of the program in an Atelier Versace dress, honoring the theme of “Gilded Glamour.”
Lively first walked out in a copper-embellished gown with a matching train and gloves; however, that was not the final look. Right before she hit the top of the steps, Lively revealed the aqua train that fell behind her, complete with a glove change.
The Gilded Glamour and white tie dress code references the time period between 1870 and 1890 and embodies the majestic age in New York City. Lively made sure to pay homage to all of New York City’s landmarks, including Grand Central Station, the Empire State Building, and of course, Lady Liberty, which is how Lively received the new nickname, “Lady Lively.”

In an interview with reporters on the carpet about the inspiration for her look, Lively stated, “I thought instead of looking to fashion to influence the dress, I looked to New York City architecture and the classic buildings… The draping [represents] the Statue of Liberty, plus the crown which has seven tiers, the Statue Liberty has seven rays representing the sun’s rays and then also the 7 seas and continents which represents welcomeness, inclusivity, and freedom,”

This year, Lively serves as a co-chair alongside her husband, Ryan Reynolds, Regina King, and Lin Manuel Miranda. After 10 show-stopping Met Gala looks, Lively still holds the title of “Theme Queen.” The steps of the MET just seem to be Blake Lively’s thing, don’t you think?
