Janelle Monáe to Star in New Josephine Baker Series
Janelle Monáe is proving they’re just as talented at singing as they are acting after it was announced they will be starring as Josephine Baker in a new series.
The eight-time Grammy-nominated singer expressed her gratitude and excitement for embarking on this portrayal.

The series is titled De La Resistance and will primarily focus on the part American-born French Josephine Baker played as a spy during World War II. She was instrumental in the success of the French Resistance and remained as glamorous as she was courageous.
It was suspected that Janelle’s Meta Gala outfit was a nod to the French entertainer. Fans were oh so ecstatic to hear about the fashion icon’s new project with A24.

Baker was a known civil rights activist and was even the first Black woman to star in a blockbuster film. Janelle’s beauty and talent prove that they are the right fit for the role. They have shown their acting chops in films like Hidden Figures, Moonlight, and Harriet. Additionally, they will also be joining the cast of Knives Out 2.
News is still to come on the expected release date of the series, but Janelle isn’t going to leave our screens anytime soon.
