Avril Lavigne is taking a stroll down memory lane. The “Sk8er Boi” singer posed on Canal Street in New York City, the very same street she shot the cover of her iconic debut record, Let Go, in June 2002.

The Pop-Punk princess continues to leave fans feeling nostalgic. The singer happened to be in New York City, where she was the opening act for Machine Gun Kelly on his Mainstream Sellout Tour. Before performing to a sold-out crowd at Madison Square Garden, Lavigne soaked up a special memory: Canal Street.

Lavigne shared the re-enaction of her most iconic album cover to Tik Tok. She elaborated more on this incredible moment on Instagram, uploading side-by-side photos commemorating twenty years. Her post reads: “20 years later! This was another magical moment for me returning to the exact location of where I shot my debut album cover Let Go yesterday in New York City right before we played Madison Square Garden! Happy 20th anniversary Let Go. And thank you to all of my incredibly amazing and supportive fans that have shown me so much love over all these years.”

It is hard to believe that this Pop-Punk star has been in the industry for twenty years. Lavigne made her debut on March 11, 2002, when she released her debut single, “Complicated.” At this time, pop-punk was in full swing but was a largely male-dominated genre. Her record marked a monumental moment for women in music. She has inspired a generation of artists from Billie Eilish to Olivia Rodrigo.

Let Go will be a year-long celebration. The singer has big plans for the record, admitting that she wants to take the album to the next level. Back in December, Lavigne announced that she will be adapting her hit song “Sk8er Boi” into a film.

In February, the singer returned to her pop-punk roots and released her seventh studio album, Love Sux. Her Let Go vibes are strong on this record.

Congratulations to Avril Lavigne on an incredible twenty years in music. We cannot wait to see what’s next for the Pop-Punk princess. Let Go is available to stream on all major music platforms. Watch the music video that started it all below.
