Harry Shum Jr. Joins New Season of Grey’s Anatomy
Harry Shum Jr. is scrubbing in on the new season of Grey’s Anatomy, coming this fall. The dancer and actor is set to round out the incoming class of Grey Sloan interns for season 19.
Shum took to Instagram to express his excitement and simply captioned the post, “Honored to be joining this iconic show 💥 💥 💥”
From what we know so far, Shum will portray Daniel “Blue” Kwan, a competitive and naturally talented individual. A family crisis set him back for some time, making him the oldest of the bunch. However, Kwan is back on track with his career and will stop at nothing to be the best. Die-hard fans are already speculating the potential storylines and are even making comparisons to the beloved character, Cristina Yang (Sandra Oh), as their descriptions are very similar.

The Glee alum was known for exceptional dance moves but has continued to excite fans with his acting roles in films like All My Life, Love Hard, Broadcast Signal Intrusion, and the breakout hit Everything Everywhere All at Once. Aside from Grey’s, Shum is preparing to star alongside Gemma Chan in the Crazy Rich Asians spinoff, China Rich Girlfriend.
Along with Shum, viewers can expect four new faces this season, including Alexis Floyd, Niko Terho, Adelaide Kane, and Midori Francis. This season of Grey’s Anatomy will explore the reconstruction of the intern program as it was dismantled by Chief Bailey, who left the hospital at the end of the season.
Season 19 of Grey’s Anatomy premieres on October 6 at 9:00 PM EST on ABC and the next day on Hulu.
