Zendaya received a standing ovation from the audience as she walks to the stage to accept her award for her role in Euphoria. Up against Sandra Oh, Jodie Comer, Laura Linney, Reese Witherspoon, and Melanie Lynskey, the former Disney star proves that she will continue to shine bright.

Zendaya humbly begins her acceptance speech by acknowledging how honored she feels to be beside the other actresses nominated in that category. She proceeds to thank the cast of Euphoria, her friends, family, and the Academy for “making such a safe space to make this very difficult show.” She then goes on to thank Sam Levinson (the creator of the show) for “believing in me even in moments where I didn’t believe in myself.”

Zendaya finished her speech with a heartwarming statement: “My greatest wish for Euphoria is that it could help heal people. Anyone who has loved a Rue or feels like they are a Rue, I want you to know that I am so grateful for your stories, and I carry them with me, and I carry them with her.”

The actress embodies the character Rue, a teenager struggling with substance abuse. She won her first Emmy for the role back in 2020, making her the youngest person to ever win in this category. She is also the only other Black woman to win after Viola Davis in 2015 for the series How to Get Away with Murder.
