Never Have I Ever is coming to a close with its upcoming fourth season and it will release on June 8 on Netflix. Created by Mindy Kaling, this high school series has had a lot of excitement. It centers around the high school experience of the smart yet naive Devi, who is dealing with her father’s death and being one of the only Indian Americans at her school. She and her classmates go through some ups and downs, but this season will see her on the road to graduation. The trailer makes it clear that this may be a bumpy road.

The trailer came out on May 9. At the end of the third season, Devi asks her rival/ex-boyfriend/friend Ben (Jared Lewison) to take her virginity, however, after the act, everything has become awkward between them. The video also hints that she may also have a new love interest in the form of Ethan (Michael Cimino). Her old love interest Paxton (Darren Barnet) may also crash into the story, even though he graduated last season. If the trailer is evidence, Devi has quite a group of guys to pick from.

Meanwhile, Devi and her friends are starting their senior year of high school, and Devi is working on getting into Princeton. She wants to make the most of these last months with her friends Fabiola (Lee Rodriguez) and Eleanor (Ramona Young). The trailer displays Fabiola pursuing her robotics dreams and Elenor chasing after her acting dreams. The trailer cuts to scenes of the group at prom and graduation, revealing that their friendship will attest to the test of time. Devi is also staying close to her family, with the trailer seeing her and her cousin Kamala (Richa Moorjani) dancing in traditional Indian outfits. Boys may come and go, but friends and family are forever.

The series originally premiered in April 2020. Kaling created this series as a slight representation of her childhood as an Indian American teen girl. The series began with Devi as a sophomore in high school. The second season came out in July of 2021, and the third season came out in August of 2022. When the series got a renewal for a fourth season, it was also announced it would be its last season. Like the other seasons, the final season will be ten episodes and should see more of Devi’s interesting choices and experiences.

The series has received favorable reviews since its beginning. It has had praise for its South Asian representation, as well as its representation of grief. Never Have I Ever has also had applause for its seamless combination of comedy and drama. It has a score of 93% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes and a score of 81 on Metacritic. Netflix has even reported that over 40 million households have watched this teen dramedy.

This trailer promises both hijinks and heart to hearts. While there will certainly be more stories that the trailer is not displaying, this little taste promises a thrilling farewell.
