Succession is on its way to making Emmys history. The HBO series’ fourth and final season scored a whopping 27 Emmy nominations.

After the Television Academy announced the Emmy nominations on July 12, ‘Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series’ features three actors from the same series simultaneously receiving a nomination for the first time. Brian Cox, Kieran Culkin, and Jeremy Strong are all contenders for the coveted Emmy.

Jeremy Strong, who portrayed Kendall Roy, the eldest son, won the Emmy for ‘Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series’ in 2020 but lost in 2021. Brian Cox, the Roy family patriarch, has also been nominated alongside Strong in 2020 and 2021.

Additionally, Kieran Culkin, who embodied the role of Roman Roy, is nominated for the first time in the Lead Actor category after previously being in the Supporting Actor category in 2020 and 2022. Last season, he received a Best Supporting Actor nod alongside co-stars Matthew Macfadyen (Tom Wambsgans) and Nicholas Braun (Greg), with Macfadyen prevailing. Macfadyen and Braun will go head-to-head again in the Supporting Actor category.

Succession has won 13 Emmys throughout its three seasons. The series won Best Drama for its explosive Season 2 and Season 3. We are excited to see what follows this year.
