The Bikeriders is based on Danny Lyons’ 1968 book featuring black and white photographs. Nichols’ film will follow a fictional Midwestern biker gang in 1965 Chicago called the Vandals. The film’s ensemble is picture-perfect. Golden Globe winner Austin Butler (Elvis) leads the cast as Benny, a devoted member of the Vandals.

Butler personifies cool as he lights a cigarette and rides the highs and lows of motorcycle gang life. Benny has to decide who his allegiance lies with Johnny (Tom Hardy), the Vandals founder, or Kathy (Jodie Comer), his loving wife?

In the trailer, Kathy (Jodie Comer) reveals to Danny (Mike Faist) that it was a “golden age for bike riders.” Although she admits that she felt out of place when she saw Benny for the first time, he “took her breath away.” The trailer cuts to a scene of Benny and Kathy on a motorcycle.

Kathy and Benny’s union took place five weeks after meeting for the first time. Fans can understand Kathy’s frustration with Benny’s undying devotion to the organization when she states, “I thought I could change him, you know? Not to be different, but to be, I don’t know like he’s wild.”

In addition to Austin Butler (Dune Part Two), Jodie Comer (Killing Eve), Mike Faist (West Side Story), Tom Hardy (Venom), Michael Shannon (George and Tammy), Boyd Holbrook (Narcos), Damon Herriman (Secret City), Beau Knapp (The Signal), Emory Cohen (Brooklyn), and Karl Glusman (Nocturnal Animals) round out the cast.

Jeff Nichols’ The Bikeriders promises to be an unforgettable ride. The film will be released in theaters on December 1. In the meantime, fans can watch the smoldering trailer below.
