New Trailer Drops for the New Wonka Movie
A new trailer from Warner Bros. has been released for the upcoming movie, Wonka, starring Timothée Chalamet and Hugh Grant.
On October 12th, Warner Bros. shared the second official trailer for the upcoming movie with a post on X.
Inspired by Roald Dahl’s 1964 children’s book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Paul King directs the film with writing by Simon Rich and cinematography by Chung-hoon Chung.

The movie rewinds to the time of young Wonka, in a pre-golden ticket era, and explains how he first met the Oompa-Loompas.
Timothée Chalamet, starring as Wonka, will show off his singing and dancing skills specifically learned for the role. Hugh Grant performs as a classic Oompa-Loompa character along with Rowan Atkinson, Calah Lane, Olivia Colman, Keegan-Michael Key, Jim Carter, Matt Lucas, and Sally Hawkins.

In a past interview with PEOPLE, director King applauded Chalamet’s talents.
“I think what’s so remarkable about his performance is not only that he is funny and mischievous and quite mysterious, as well — just like the Willy Wonka that people will know — but also, he brings such heart to the role and he’s a brilliant actor,” he stated.
King continued, “He’s incredibly emotionally intelligent and can bring a great deal of emotional truth to the role.”
Wonka is a prequel to the original 19971 Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory starring Gene Wilder. Chalamet will be following in Johnny Depp’s footsteps, as Depp also portrays the character in Tim Burton’s 2005 film adaption.
Wonka is set to premiere in theaters on December 15.
