Netflix unveiled the official teaser trailer for their exciting live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender. The series premieres on February 22.

Ever since its first announcement in September of 2018, fans have been waiting with bated breath. Netflix’s adaptation will arrive as an eight-episode series nineteen years after the animation’s original 2005 premiere. With the official release date around the corner, audiences only have to wait one more month to see their favorite scenes and characters adapted into live-action.

The story follows Aang, the reawakened Avatar, as he masters the four elements (Water, Earth, Fire, Air). He must restore balance to a world under the constant threat of the Fire Nation. “I’m the Avatar, and I’m gonna save the world — with my friends,” Aang declares in the trailer.

“‘Avatar: The Last Airbender‘ live action I feel like is going to bring everything you know and love about the original series back to life. And hopefully [it will] just bring a bunch of new fans who have never heard [of] the show before into this universe, and to me that’s pretty exciting. I’m a fan of the show personally, and I’m just as excited for this as you guys are,” stated Gordon Cormier, who portrays Aang.

The series’s cast includes other young, up-and-coming actors. Kiawentiio portrays Katara alongside Ian Ousley as Sokka, Dallas Liu as Prince Zuko, and Elizabeth Yu as Princess Azula. Along with new actors, the cast also boasts some established stars, with Daniel Dae Kim as Fire Lord Ozai, Paul Sun-Hyung Lee as Uncle Iroh, and Ken Leung as Commander Zhao.

Fans have expressed excitement in anticipation of the series’ February 22 release. X user Omn1Media stated, “Dude I’m trying so hard not to get my expectations get too high but each trailer gets me so hyped up! I really do hope they do this justice!”
