For their first fall/winter show, the ladies put a fly spin on traditional workwear. “Modern Rebellion” features ten designs, taking your usual idea of workplace attire and adding fun silhouettes and bold colors, ensuring you turn heads in the office.

“I don’t want to use this term, but it’s like “Corporate Baddie. The modern working woman, you go to the office; you don’t want the traditional suit and skirt or button down. No. Boring, boring. You want to put that pop of color underneath your skirt and try different styles of tailoring and different silhouettes—that type of stuff,” Lolita Malone shared when she sat down with Glitter ahead of this weekend’s show.

Maui Malone continued, “Our theme is Modern Rebellion: modern corporate business aesthetics with an indigo twist, challenging how bold fashion should be in the workplace.”

Of the 12 pieces and 5 Morrocan leather handbags, the show kicked off with a two-piece suit, but with a fun flared bottom and shoulder pads in the blazer, giving a new meaning to the “power suit.” We also saw two-piece short/blazer sets, shorts/sweater sets paying homage to their athleisure roots, and the ultimate showstopper: the royal blue full-length lace dress, complete with a hoodie.

They also unveiled their three new fragrances, “Empress,” “Eden,” and “Goddess,” inspired by the pair’s trip to Morocco. More on that here.

It’s important to note that Maui X Lolita didn’t just showcase their new line; they put on a real show. From the first model hanging back and banging a ruler against her hand as the other models walked and engaged with the audience to the dreaded phones and clipboards we equate with the dull office, it felt like the corporate world transformed right before our eyes.

“It was a perfectly executed story of traditional corporate fashion and the urge to rebel against it…Our Modern Rebellion started with our first model, the ‘Boss,’ and continued with her ’employees.’ Their paths down the runway embodied both the modern and the rebellion, with both sexy struts and stunted and wobbly walks. The show was a smashing success, and we are both highly satisfied,” Maui and Lolita discussed.

Not to mention the messages in the music—”A Woman. Rebellion. Defiant. Ambitious. Confident. Modern,” perfectly encapsulated the theme. As the models took their final walk, they tossed their work papers in the air, broke boundaries, and are now free to dress as daringly and fly as they please.

When it comes to Maui X Lolita, they have ideas and concepts greater than anyone’s imagination. As they continue to add pieces beyond their original athleisure, it’s evident that they will soon become a force to be reckoned with in the fashion industry, but will always be “For the Fly Girls Only.”
