Dune: Part Two received a 97% rating from Rotten Tomatoes before its release, confirming that the film is “certified fresh.”

It has been three years since Dune hit theaters with an 83% Rotten Tomatoes score, and its predecessor only seems to be more improved.

The impressive rating marks what has been a list of accomplishments and multiple records for the film. Moreover, its outstanding score makes it the highest-rated Dune adaptation of all time.

The first film adaptation of Frank Herbert’s 1965 novel premiered in 1984, directed by David Lynch. Following this, Syfy, the cable channel, created a television miniseries of Dune that was more successful than its predecessor. However, no adaptation has reached the level of Denis Villeneuve’s current adaptation.

This new installment follows Paul Atredeis, portrayed by Timotheé Chalamet, who must unite the Fremen in taking revenge on House Harkonnen. He is joined by Chani, who is portrayed by Zendaya, and he faces the choice of choosing the love of his life or solving the unknown fate of the universe.

Villeneuve’s onscreen adoption of Dune: Part Two is undeniably successful, as it has become his highest-rated project. In addition to Villeneuve, Dune: Part Two is currently the highest-rated film in the careers of Zendaya, Florence Pugh, Josh Brolin, Rebecca Ferguson, Javier Bardem, Dave Bautista, and Austin Butler.

The star-studded cast continues to provoke excitement for the film’s release on March 1. The film’s newcomers, Pugh, Butler, Christopher Walken, and Anya Taylor-Joy seem to have left an impact on the already enthralling sci-fi series.

The Rotten Tomatoes critic’s consensus describes the film as, “visually thrilling and narratively epic.” The highly anticipated film is argued to be the best sci-fi film of this decade.
