In her recent interview with Apple Music, Ariana Grande talked about her musical process and the importance of taking breaks.

On March 7, Apple Music released the full Ariana Grande and Zane Lowe interview. The two sat down in an eclectic space in New York City ahead of the release of her newest album, Eternal Sunshine.

During the conversation, Grande spoke about the importance of separating her music career from the rest of her life, significantly ahead of the release of Wicked, in which she portrays Glinda the Good Witch. “Everything from the way I sing to the way I speak–everything had to be different for a long time so that I could be fully present in it.” Glinda’s character means a lot to Ariana Grande, and while some fans may know her for her music, she was committed to giving her starring role the attention it needed.

The “Yes, and?” singer has been absent from the music scene for a while, with Eternal Sunshine being her first album in about four years. She explained, “It also really allowed for coming back to it to feel so much more special and so much more enjoyable…I had a very interesting relationship to music before I left for Wicked. I think the time away was really healing.” Taking the time away from music was just what the artist needed to put out her best work. Good things take time, and Grande’s artistry is undoubtedly no different.

Needless to say, this attention to detail and a newfound love for music, combined with the interview, have only made fans more excited for the album’s premiere.

Suppose you’d like to support Ariana Grande. In that case, you can stream her newest single, “Yes, and?” which also includes a collaboration with Mariah Carey, or pre-save her latest album, Eternal Sunshine, which will be released on March 8. Eternal Sunshine can be streamed on all music streaming platforms.
