Ariana Grande and Mariah Carey are collaborating on a remix of Grande’s hit single, “yes, and?”

A new Ariana Grande and Mariah Carey collaboration is coming Friday, February 16. Since January 7, Grande has revealed the alternative covers for her upcoming seventh studio album, Eternal Sunshine, on her Sweetener Instagram account.

On February 14, the account posted a framed eye shot similar to the one seen on the “yes, and?” and standard Eternal Sunshine covers. The complete image was not yet posted, but half of another frame could be seen above Grande’s, seemingly another eye.

About four hours later, Mariah Carey updated her Instagram profile with an eye photo with the same border seen around Grande’s. Shortly after, Grande updated her profile picture to match Carey’s. The Sweetener account then confirmed the news by posting Carey’s picture, completing the remix’s cover.

The vocal powerhouses have sung together once before on a remix of Carey’s girl-group-inspired Christmas track “Oh Santa!” alongside Jennifer Hudson, released in December 2020 as part of the album Mariah Carey’s Magical Christmas Special.

The trio performed the song live for the first time on December 9, 2023, at Madison Square Garden for Carey’s Merry Christmas One & All! Tour. “This is unexpected yet amazing. We have two Christmas angels here to sing a song called ‘Oh Santa!’ with me, and you wouldn’t believe it. We have J.Hud, and we have Ari!” Carey stated while introducing her surprise guests.

Grande has not been shy to express her admiration for Carey throughout her career. In her 2020 Netflix concert documentary, Ariana Grande: Excuse Me, I Love You, the songstress gushed about her idol in between recording herself lip-syncing to “All I Want For Christmas Is You” for a celebrity sing-along video. “Mariah is doing a video for ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You,’ and it’s a compilation of some of her favorite artists right now, and she asked me to be one of them. Apparently, the request came directly from her… It just means a lot to hear from her because my sound was so influenced by her and the 90s pop sound.”

Arianators and Lambs can pre-order the remix CD on Grande’s website and pre-save the song on streaming services. Eternal Sunshine will be released on March 8.
