Besides celebrating the film industry, the 96 Academy Awards, also known as the Oscars, was a night full of amazing fashion. Here is a list of some of the best looks.

Despite the night’s main focus, fashion has been a big part of the event for decades now. Some iconic looks referenced until today include 1955’s Grace Kelly in Edith Head, 1974’s Cher in Bob Mackie, 1997’s Salma Hayek in Armani, and many more.

The cast of Barbie had showstopping outfits. For example, Ryan Gosling’s all-pink suit with gloves and black sunglasses for his performance of “I’m Just Ken, Margot Robbie’s vintage Mugler gold corset dress made fashion lovers go crazy on social media, and America Ferrera’s perfect nod to Barbie with pink Versace chainmail dress.

Some of the best attires were a nod to upcoming roles, outfits that complimented a duo, or included personal accessories to compliment the look.

The power couple, Emily Blunt and John Krasinski wore matching off-white outfits. Blunt wore a Schiaparelli couture cream dress, while Krasinski wore an all-white tuxedo with black shoes. On top of that, the jewels were Tiffany and Co.

In the same topic of power duos, the main actresses for the adaptation of Wicked, Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, nodded to their characters, Glinda and Elphaba. Grande wore a Giambattista Valli Haute Couture pink gown, and Erivo opted for a dark green Louis Vuitton dress.

On the other hand, Vanessa Hudgens debuted her baby bump at the Oscars. She wore two black gowns, a Vera Wang tight turtle neck to the ceremony, and a sheer flowy Alberta Ferretti dress. Both outfits emphasized her incredible news: she and her husband, Cole Tucker, have a baby on the way.

Anya Taylor-Joy also looked good at the Academy Awards and the Vanity Fair afterparty. During the ceremony, she opted for a Dior gown inspired by the iconic Dior Venus dresses. At the afterparty, she did a spin on the little black dress with a custom Miss Sohee dress and headpiece.

When it comes to men’s fashion, Colman Domingo, Taylor Zakhar Perez, and Teo Yoo demonstrated how to kill a red carpet. They upgraded the plain black tux with accessories and colors. Domingo paired a Louis Vuitton suit with lots of jewelry from David Yurman and colorful shoes. Taylor Zakhar Perez opted for an out-of-the-box blue Prada suit.

While Teo Yoo’s navy suit might look plain at first sight, the Past Lives actor had a tortoise pin. The pin had a beautiful meaning to pay homage to his pet tortoise, Momo, who passed away recently, and his fans, who got their name from his pet he had for ten years.

The Oscar-winning crew of Godzilla Minus One also had heartwarming details on their outfit. All their shoes had a claw as the heel, a nod to Godzilla. They also carried little figurines of the main character of their film.

Some notable mentions include Oscar winners Da’Vine Joy Randolph and Emma Stone in Louis Vuitton, Carrey Mulligan in Balenciaga, Lily Gladstone in Gucci, Greta Lee in Loewe, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan in Zuhair Murad, Leah Lewis in Lever Couture, Quannah Chasinghorse in Red Berry Woman, Lupita Nyong’o and Zendaya in Giorgio Armani Prive.
