New Upcoming Projects for the Oscar Nominees

After a star-studded night hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, Oscar winners and nominees are not slowing down with new films and projects already in the works.

After a star-studded night hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, Oscar winners and nominees are not slowing down with new films and projects already in the works.

The nominations for the Oscars this year were stacked with household names, such as Emma Stone, Jeffrey Wright, Robert Downey Jr., and Cillian Murphy.

Firstly, two-time Oscar winner Emma Stone (Poor Things) will be working with director Yorgos Lanthimos once again on Kinds of Kindness with Willem Dafoe, Margaret Qualley, and Jesse Plemons.

Emily Blunt (Oppenheimer) will star alongside fellow Oscar nominee Ryan Gosling in Fall Guy, releasing in theaters May 3. Moreover, you can catch her again on the screen two weeks later in husband John Krasinski’s IF, where she voices a unicorn.

Sterling K. Brown (American Fiction) will be starring in a new science fiction thriller, Atlas, led by Jennifer Lopez, coming to Netflix this year. Brown will also be starring in Washington Black, an upcoming Hulu series based on Esi Edugyan’s novel.

Two-time Oscar winner Robert De Niro (Killers of the Flower Moon) has an array of projects slated for this year. Ezra is coming to theaters this May, Alto Knights premieres in November, and Zero Day is a limited Netflix series streaming soon.

Danielle Brooks (The Color Purple) is currently filming Minecraft, a live-action adaptation of the video game starring Jack Black, set to release in 2025. In addition, she will also be in season two of DC’s Peacemaker, shooting this summer alongside John Cena.

Twelve-time nominee Bradley Cooper (Maestro) will be directing and starring in another one of his films, Is This Thing On? which is predicted to start shooting this fall. 

Five-time Oscar nominee Annette Bening (Nyad) has two projects slated for a release date this year. Bening will star in Peacock’s Apples Never Fall alongside Alison Brie and Sam Neill, coming March 14. Furthermore, she will be in Poolman opposite Chris Pine in his directorial debut. 

America Ferrera (Barbie) will be making her directorial debut with I Am Not Your Perfect Mexican Daughter, based on the 2017 novel of the same name. Additionally, Ferrera will be lending her voice to Elio, a new Pixar film hitting theaters next year. 

Jeffrey Wright (American Fiction) will be returning to Gotham City as Police Commissioner Jim Gordon for Matt Reeves’ The Batman sequel.

First-time Oscar winner Robert Downey Jr. (Oppenheimer) will be in HBO Max’s The Sympathizer, portraying a variety of roles. The series will start streaming this April. 

Lastly, actress and nominee Lily Gladstone has an impressive lineup of projects for the upcoming year. She will star alongside Riley Keough in Hulu’s Under the Bridge, a true-crime series coming this April. Additionally, she will be in Fancy Dance streaming on Apple TV+ later this year and filming a role for Jazzy, the sequel to The Unknown Country
