Megan Thee Stallion, the “Hot Girl Summer” artist, is being sued by her former cameraman for allegedly creating a hostile work environment and weight-shaming.

Thee Stallion finds herself in another legal situation after Tory Lanez was sentenced for shooting the rapper in the foot last summer. Emilio Garcia, the cameraman who worked with Thee Stallion from 2018 to 2023, is now suing his former employer for harassment. Garcia alleged that he was trapped inside a moving vehicle with the rapper in a foreign country while she had sex with a woman. In addition, he claimed to be criticized and treated differently by Thee Stallion and experiencing weight shame while working for her.

The lawsuit alleged that in June of 2022, Garcia traveled with Thee Stallion to Spain and after a night out, Thee Stallion began having sex next to him in a moving SUV.

The suit was filed on Tuesday in Los Angeles and claimed that Megan Thee Stallion, whose real name is Megan Pete, told Garcia, “Don’t ever discuss what you saw” after the incident in the SUV.

Garcia told NBC News in an interview, “I felt uncomfortable. I was kind of frozen, and I was shocked. At kind of just be the overall audacity to do this right, right beside me.” He also expressed he “was embarrassed, mortified and offended throughout the whole ordeal.”

The suit described the work atmosphere with Thee Stallion as a “hostile, abusive work environment” and that the “working conditions intolerable.” Garcia continued to say that on the same trip that the incident in the SUV accord, Thee Stallion continuously tormented and bullied him. The cameraman claims Thee Stallion called him a “fat b*tch,” telling him to “spit your food out” and “you don’t need to be eating.” The suit stated that Garcia “endured a barrage of relentless sexual and fat-shaming comments plunging him into profound emotional distress.”

In the same interview with NBC, Gracia continued, “To hear someone who advocates about loving your body tell me these things, I felt degraded.”

Garcia explained that after the Spain trip, his treatment from Thee Stallion continued to decline, along with his compensation. His once monthly flat rate changed to a pay-per-task system, yet he was expected to provide the same service despite the pay structure difference. Garcia also claimed he noticed that Thee Stallion started to hire him less for bookings after the trip.

Due to the emotional distress Garcia allegedly experienced during his employment with the rapper, he now “grapples with mounting anxiety, depression, and physical distress stemming from the toxic work environment,” according to the suit. He also explains that this emotional trauma was left untreated due to having no basic healthcare insurance under the artist’s employment.

Alex Spiro, Thee Stallions attorney, stated, “This is an employment claim for money — with no sexual harassment claim filed and with salacious accusations to attempt to embarrass her. We will deal with this in court.”

We still have yet to see if other employees have had similar experiences or if they will speak up to defend Thee Stallion. We also must wait to see if Garcia’s claims will be settled or if they will find their way to a courtroom. Megan Thee Stallion has not commented on the lawsuit so far.
