Zayn Malik announced on social media that he is doing a one-night-only live performance in London. This will be the first live performance of his solo career.

This announcement was an exciting shock to fans, as the “Pillowtalk” singer has not taken the stage in 8 years. This will be his first live performance as a solo artist since leaving the former band, One Direction. His bandmates included Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, and Liam Payne.

The news comes a month and a half after the announcement of his upcoming album Room Under the Stairs, which he surprised fans with on March 13. His album will be released on May 17, the same day as his one-night-only performance which is sure to make for a special night.

The event will be held at the 02 Shepherds Bush Empire in London on May 17. The music venue was originally built in 1903. It previously had other names like Shepherd’s Bush Empire and BBC Television Theatre. The venue holds a capacity of only 2,000 people, so the fans who can experience this will be extremely lucky.

Malik has been making a groundbreaking comeback and has been busy the past year reentering the world of music and the public eye. Last summer he appeared on the Call Her Daddy podcast with host Alex Cooper. This was the first time fans saw him in public in six years. Since then, he has been slowly making his way back into stardom, hosting listening parties, appearing on talk shows, and meeting fans.

The artist tweeted a 20-second video on X as a tease for the one-night-only concert. He included a few clips of him at different ages singing, with his new music in the background.

Malik will be performing six songs at the event. Additionally, following the performance will be a world premiere of his new documentary, Road Back to the Mic. The name is confirming his return to music after all of these years. People are also speculating that he may announce his first tour since leaving One Direction.

With the news of his first live performance in almost a decade, fans have claimed they are ready to fly to London from around the world. This proves how significant of a moment this will be for longtime fans.

In his Instagram post, Malik includes a photo of his all-women band, making fans excited for his return.
