The Weeknd announces the birth of his latest era with cinematic graphics, including a snippet of an unreleased song longtime fans have been waiting to hear.

The Weeknd has finally returned to the world of music after a two-year hiatus. During that time, the singer accomplished many feats, such as starring in HBO’s The Idol and curating his coffee brand to tap into his Ethiopian roots. Also during that time, the singer broke records as the most-streamed artist on Spotify, with over 105 million monthly listeners.

Now, the singer teased the final chapter in his trilogy with a stunning visualizer posted on his Instagram page, and the video has almost 1.5 million likes in nearly 24 hours. Featured in the background of the video is a snippet of an unreleased song that longtime fans of The Weeknd will immediately recognize.

In 2020, the “Blinding Lights” singer went on Instagram Live and played snippets of songs for fans. Some believed the snippet would be on the deluxe version of After Hours, but no such luck. Fans also took matters into their own hands and posted the unreleased track on YouTube and Spotify for others to listen to until the official release.

The song “Hold Your Heart” seems to be coming sooner than we think. The video includes clear production and added vocals. Fans were ecstatic once they realized the song was playing in much higher quality.

“I like the story it seems to tell, this young Abel trying to reach what I’m guessing is heaven, and all his past other selves trying to hold him back, cause really The Weeknd does not deserve heaven from the other albums and story told, but Abel does,” one user stated, deciphering how the video could be a nod to the singer trying to heal his inner child years later.

The video contains several Easter eggs, such as The Weeknd’s alter egos. His personas for After Hours and Dawn FM are included, a nod that the next album is coming. Each of The Weeknd’s projects is a trilogy, and the singer has been hinting at the third and final album for quite some time.

While the next album is rumored to be the last and final album under The Weeknd persona, fans do not have to worry. The Weeknd has no plans to stop making music and will produce and create projects under his actual name, Abel Tesfaye.

Until the official release of the new album and era, The Weeknd will perform a special one-night-only concert in São Paulo, Brazil, on September 7. To purchase tickets, click here.
