T’ABBE’s New SS27 Collection Proves There’s Always Room for a Little Whimsy
“Whimsy” has been the word on everyone’s lips in 2026, but Talia Abbe and T’ABBE’s SS27 presentation truly embodies its meaning. Hosted at Serendipity3 in Times Square, the 19-look collection explores the ways clothing can carry emotion, imagination, and pieces of the people who came before us.
For Abbe, that story begins with the women in her own family. While looking through an archive of photographs, objects, and creative work, she discovered vintage sketches by her grandmother for a raincoat she once imagined creating. Rather than recreate the design, Abbe translated the idea through her own visual language, turning an unrealized garment from the past into something entirely new.
That influence runs throughout the collection, with fluid ready-to-wear and polished separates meeting exaggerated proportions, custom textiles, and T’ABBE’s signature inflatable latex elements. But if there was one thing the collection was not, it was ordinary. Many looks pushed firmly into avant-garde territory, with one three-tiered balloon construction.
Another sage green voluminous bubble dress looked as though it could have been plucked straight from The Jetsons, taking the visual language of the past and pushing it somewhere new. T’ABBE proves looking backward does not necessarily mean dressing nostalgically. Sometimes, it means taking an old idea, inflating it – literally – and seeing just how far it can go.
The designer also continues her collaboration with Bring Change to Mind (BC2M), a non-profit aiming to end the stigma surrounding mental health. Following a nationwide student competition centered on self-expression and mental wellness, the winning artwork was transformed into a custom print featured throughout the Spring/Summer 2027 collection, adding yet another layer of creative inheritance and allowing a new generation’s perspective to become part of T’ABBE’s story.
T’ABBE’s SS27 asks us what we choose to bring into the future. Sometimes, it’s a memory. Sometimes, it’s an idea. And sometimes, it’s a really great outfit.
