Leonie Mergen’s LFW Collection Is Sleek and Chic
Leonie Mergen filled the room for the Oxford Fashion Studios this past Sunday, September 14th 2019.
Leonie Mergen’s fashion show took place at the Linbury Theatre in the Royal Opera House. The ESMOD Berlin graduate is a seasoned designer, and it shows in her attention to detail. She founded her men’s and women’s label in 2016. Since then she has built her brand and has had multiple collections over the years. However, this collection specifically highlights “German craftsmanship and tailoring”.
Olive is a common accent color of the fashion line. The subtle color, against the black and white bases, contribute to the character of the garments. The simplicity of the base colors allows the darker green color to intensify the look.
“Strategic draping at the waistline was thoughtful in pieces like the coral and white jumpsuit that seemed to garner high praise from guests whose eyebrows raised in approval. Another standout was the belted duster over a white pantsuit with perfect pocket and collar details that served up a structured, figure-flattering silhouette with style points for its crisp lines.” The pieces are minimalistic yet have a dramatic flair thanks to the small pops of color.
The male fashion is elegant yet masculine. The uniqueness of the line is the designer’s ability to add a modern spin on business attire without compromising the strength of the apparel.
