Will always be grateful to Jordan Peele for making horror films feel like big, unmissable “event movies,” which isn’t always the case.

So many people who wouldn’t consider themselves fans of the genre go see his movies and it’s so great to see. pic.twitter.com/xz8IRyqM5B
Peele’s directorial debut, the psychological thriller Get Out (2017), was an award show bastion in 2018, giving him an Academy Award for best original screenplay and nominations for best director and best picture. He made history as the first Black person to win for the category. His films, Get Out and Us (2019), are known for their poignant commentary on race and society in the horror genre.
Jordan Peele is proof that original filmmaking is not dead and you can still have massive success without being attached to a huge franchise

In Peele’s Oscar acceptance speech, he stated, “I almost never became a director because there was such a shortage of role models. I am so proud to be a part of a time that’s the beginning of a movement, where I feel like the best films of every genre are being brought to me by black directors.”
The cast is bringing their acting chops, with Kaluuya fresh off his 2021 win for best actor in Judas and the Black Messiah (2021) and Yeun snagging a nomination in the same category for his performance in Minari (2020).
NOPE releases in theaters on July 22, 2022.
