Conan Gray, Gen Z’s inspirational idol, discusses romance, high school memories, music inspiration, and more during a coffee interview with GQ Magazine. Along with his amazing fashion, Gray unpacks his life over a cup of cappuccino, “It obviously depends where I am, but if I’m at dinner or if it’s late, it’s always a cappuccino.”

Before going in-depth about his career, Gray and GQ Magazine teamed up to film a funky TikTok video. The “Maniac” singer displayed his amazing fashion sense with the #3fits1min challenge. Gray shows his fans that he can definitely rock fashion and art altogether.

In GQ Magazine’s March Art & Fashion issue, the 23-year-old singer and songwriter talks about his life in Georgetown, Texas. He thinks back to his 70s, 80s, and 90s inspired clothing.

But, it was Gray’s trip to New York City that inspired his music. He reveals, “I went out with people and made new friends, and then came back to Los Angeles and wrote about it. I needed to go live my life, so I had something to write about.”

Furthermore, Gray had to talk about his love life – an aspect of his life that fans love to hear about. “You will probably be surprised to learn that I’ve never actually dated anyone. It’s embarrassing! Dating makes me nervous,” he reveals. “I feel almost ready to be in a real relationship. I think a lot of my anxiety around dating has come from my fear of being heartbroken again because I was so sad for so many years about the first one.”

However, Gray didn’t start out as one of Gen Z’s iconic singers but instead a high school Youtuber. Gray expresses his gratitude towards the internet filled with people of his generation, stating “My fans are my friends. They watched me grow up, and in so many ways, I watched them grow up as well. I think of them as family.”

Ever since Gray was in high school, he took inspiration from Taylor Swift. According to the “Heather” singer, “Taylor raised an entire generation of songwriters. She taught a lot of people how to write pop songs. I remember thinking, Wow, Taylor Swift is the coolest person on the earth” after watching her famous song “Teardrops on My Guitar” as a young child. And now, Swift supports Gray’s career and songs.

Fans are ecstatic to see Gray all grown up and looking fantastic in the new issue of GQ Magazine. He’s a true inspiration to everyone out there.
