The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder Scores a New Season
It’s official, The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder has been renewed for a new season. Disney+ made the announcement prior to the first season’s finale.
Disney wasted no time in getting the ball rolling for the upcoming season. On Monday, Disney announced that the new season is already in production. Everyone’s favorite family will be returning: Penny Proud (Kyla Pratt), Oscar Proud (Tommy Davidson), Trudy Proud (Paula Jai Parker), and Suga Mama (JoMarie Payton). In addition to Penny’s whacky family, her friends Dijonay Jones (Karen Malina White), LaCienega Boulevardez (Alisa Reyes) Zoey Howzer (Soleil Moon Frye) are coming back as well.

The Proud Family Reboot is so good. Loved that show growing up. Major nostalgia 😭

The original The Proud Family centered around fourteen-year-old Penny Proud as she navigates teenagehood with her loving but over-the-top family. The series captured the hearts of the audience while they watched Penny grow up. The reboot shares the same plot and explores different topics relevant to today’s children.
“We can be more forthright in our discussion about various topics,” executive producer Ralph Farquhar shared during an interview with ET, “You know, topics such as dealing with the LGBTQ community, specifically the Michael character, which we totally revamped, re-voiced, reimagined if you will. We hired EJ Johnson to voice that and bring the authenticity that’s something very different. Also the addition of Zachary Quinto and Billy Porter, as same-sex parents. These are things which would not have happened 20 years ago, trust me, not possible.”
