Lady Gaga is back with new music. The “Stupid Love” singer announced that she wrote a song for Top Gun: Maverick, the sequel to Top Gun (1986).

Little Monsters, assemble. Mother Monster has finally confirmed new music is on the way. Gaga took to social media on April 27 to unveil “Hold My Hand.” This past week, she has sent out several tweets, presumably song lyrics to “Hold My Hand,” leaving fans impatient for what was to come.

She writes on Instagram, “When I wrote this song for Top Gun: Maverick, I didn’t even realize the multiple layers it spanned across the film’s heart, my own psyche, and the nature of the world we’ve been living in. I’ve been working on it for years, perfecting it, trying to make it ours.  I wanted to make music into a song where we share our deep need to both be understood and try to understand each other—a longing to be close when we feel so far away and an ability to celebrate life’s heroes.”

Gaga’s “Hold My Hand” will serve as a love letter to the world during such trying times. The track was produced by Gaga and her frequent collaborator, BloodPop. Benjamin Rice also helped with the production of the single.

This is not Gaga’s first time composing music for a movie soundtrack. She wrote the music and starred as Ally in the 2018 remake of A Star Is Born, winning the Academy Award for Best Original Song for the hit song, “Shallow.” Her co-writers included Mark Ronson, Andrew Wyatt, and Anthony Rossomando.

Her other nomination came in 2016 for the same category for the track “Til It Happens to You.” She co-wrote the song with Diane Warren for the 2015 documentary film Hunting Ground.

We could not be more excited to hear Lady Gaga’s powerful voice soar in the Top Gun: Maverick film. “Hold My Hand” will be released on May 3. Top Gun: Maverick will be in theaters on May 27. The trailer to the film is available to watch above.
