Myha’la Herrold is known for her role as the cold-hearted Harper Stern in HBO’s series, Industry. She had also recently starred as Jordan in A24’s horror comedy, Bodies Bodies Bodies. The slasher flick is a modern whodunnit featuring dark Gen Z comedy with a major plot twist.

As a result, Herrold has been praised for her astounding performance in Industry. Harper has evolved from a mild-mannered colleague to an intense ruthless businesswoman. Fans believe she deserves an Emmy nomination due to her portrayal of the evolving character.

Herrold is now set to star in the new movie Dumb Money. What’s interesting about the actress’s new role is how similar it is to her character in Industry. In Dumb Money, Herrold will embody the part of a college student who embarks on a journey through the complex world of the stock market. Her character joins a Reddit community that ultimately invests in GameStop, earning hundreds of millions of dollars overnight.

Dumb Money is based on Ben Mezrich’s book, The Antisocial Network, which explores a group of private investors and internet trolls from the Reddit group, WallStreetBets. WallStreetBets was meant to be a meme-filled landscape featuring aggressive trading strategies and sharing significant stock losses. It was nothing serious to its members. However, these anonymous Redditors took their bets on GameStop and destroyed Wall Street’s biggest hedge fund, Melvin Capital.

Herrold will star alongside Paul Dano, America Ferrera, Seth Rogen, Sebastian Stan, and Pete Davidson. The upcoming film is directed by Craig Gillespie, known for his work in I, Tonya, and The Finest Hours. Former writers of Orange Is the New Black, Rebecca Angelo and Lauren Schuker, are writing the screenplay for the film drama.

While details of the upcoming film, Dumb Money, are still under wraps, audiences can learn more about the Wall Street scandal in Netflix’s documentaryEat The Rich: The GameStop Saga. Fans of Myha’la Herrold’s performances can stream the HBO series, Industry here. In addition, A24’s Bodies Bodies Bodies can be rented and purchased on demand on Redbox.
