Mia Goth, Andrew Garfield, and Oscar Isaac in Talks to Join New Frankenstein Adaptation

Mia Goth (Pearl), Andrew Garfield (The Amazing Spider-Man), and Oscar Isaac (Scenes from a Marriage) are in early negotiations to star in Guillermo del Toro’s adaptation of Frankenstein. He will serve as both writer and director of the project.

After securing his Oscar win for Best Animated Feature for Pinocchio, Guillermo del Toro continues to assemble an A-list cast for his upcoming Frankenstein project. His adaptation will be based on the classic Gothic novel by Mary Shelley. The project is still in its very early stages, as the filmmaker is currently working on the script with no formal offers being given to actors. However, sources can confirm that he has already met with actors Mia Goth, Andrew Garfield, and Oscar Isaac, who are all on board to join del Toro’s film.

Frankenstein is part of a multi-year deal with Netflix. Del Toro and Netflix have been a great collaboration together, considering Netflix’s Pinocchio just scored the filmmaker the third Oscar of his career. His first two Academy award wins came in 2017 for Best Director and Best Picture for The Shape of Water. He received nominations in 2007 for screenplay and foreign language film with Pan’s Labyrinth and again in 2022 for Best Picture with Nightmare Alley.

Mia Goth, Andrew Garfield, and Oscar Isaac are rumored to be del Toro’s top three choices, and each actor is an incredible choice regardless of what their role may be in the film. Mia Goth is preparing for MaXXXine, the third and final installment of the horror franchise with Ti West. She recently captivated audiences with her amazing performances in X and Pearl. Her film, Infinity Pool, opposite Alexander Skarsgård, was released in January.

Andrew Garfield is slated to star alongside Florence Pugh in the romantic film, We Live in Time. He earned himself an Oscar nomination for his role as Jonathan Larson in Tick, Tick… Boom!, as well as Emmy and SAG nominations for the limited series, Under the Banner of Heaven. Garfield also surprised audiences with his return as Peter Parker in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Oscar Isaac was Emmy-nominated for his work in HBO’s Scenes From a Marriage and the Marvel limited series Moon Knight. The actor was recently tapped to portray novelist Kurt Vonnegut in the Amazon series, Helltown.
