There have been talks for the revival of Blade since 2019 at San Diego Comic-Con. Although plot details for Marvel Studios’ Blade have largely been kept under wraps, fans do know that Ali will embody a titular role. The script will be adapted by Michael Starrbury and directed by Yann Demange. Starrbury’s script is also revealed to be “darker than most MCU movies.” Even though Ali is portraying Blade, Goth’s potential role in the film has not been determined yet.

Marv Wolfman and Gene Colan created Blade, which first appeared in Tomb of Dracula No. 10 in 1973 and quickly achieved cult status. The character of Blade is largely associated with Wesley Snipes (To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything!). The actor played Blade in 1998, followed by two sequels: Blade II (2002) and Blade Trinity (2004).

Mia Goth is coming off of incredible performances. Her latest project, MaXXXine, is the third installment of the horror trilogy with collaborator Ti West. She appeared in both films as the main protagonist. The star-studded cast of MaXXXine features Mia Goth (Pearl), Elizabeth Debicki (The Crown), Moses Sumney (Creed), Michelle Monaghan (True Detective), Bobby Cannavale (Nine Perfect Strangers), Lily Collins (Emily in Paris)Halsey (Americana), Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad), and Kevin Bacon (Footloose).

The film began filming this past week and promises to be the “best script of the three by far.”

In addition to this project, Goth has joined Andrew Garfield (Silence) and Oscar Isaac (Scenes From a Marriage) for Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein adaptation. Fans anxiously await updates on the project.

Mia Goth will undoubtedly make an outstanding addition to the growing MCU. Blade is slated for a September 6, 2024 release. The film will also serve as the final film of Phase Five of the MCU.
