Plage: Givenchy’s New Capsule Collection
Givenchy just launched its new Capsule collection, Plage. The beachwear collection will feature apparel and accessories that will be available in stores and online this month.
The Plage collection recently launched by Givenchy, is perfectly suited for the summer season. It draws inspiration from the sophisticated ambiance and muted hues of Le Clos Fiorentina, Hubert de Givenchy’s coastal residence situated in Saint Jean Cap Ferrat.

The collection further explores the traditional elements of the brand and includes quintessential beachwear accessories. For instance, the newly introduced Voyou bag in a “straw basket” style, Marshmallow wedges, and their iconic, timeless G-Tote shoppers.
Matthew Williams, the creative director of Givenchy mentions, “The light is different in the South of France. Monsieur de Givenchy loved Les Clos Florentina for its protected, natural beauty and a relaxed elegance that was a world away from his busy life in Paris.” He further adds, “I wanted to explore that lifestyle through light and color, especially the pearly pink facades that are so typical of that region.”
Hence, Givenchy’s Plage collection combines the allure of spending summers on the French coast with Williams’ own Californian roots. Furthermore, Plage draws inspiration from the brand’s archives of 1952, to pay homage to its long-standing swimwear heritage. It was also the year when Givenchy’s first Haute Couture collection was launched.
In addition, Givenchy also plans to label a range of its men’s and women’s swimwear with QR codes in a bid to promote transparency and sustainability. These codes provide information and instructions on care and material sourcing. Additionally, the codes will also detail the use of recycled materials, as well as supply chain traceability.
The collection accentuates a range of features, including cutouts, beach club staples, sailor stripes, pearls and pink, chain motifs, and delicately woven macramé. As a result, the overall aesthetic of the collection is sensual, yet relaxed.
Starting this month, Givenchy’s Plage collection will be available for purchase at their retail stores and online, with a gradual release extending up to mid-May.
