Fenty x Puma: Rihanna Announces New Sneaker Release
The return of Fenty x Puma is here with a brand-new shoe. A multiyear partnership and several product launches are planned for Rihanna’s return to Puma as Creative Director.
The first footwear launch of the iconic partnership is the Avanti. A hybrid of two Puma icons, this shoe combines the leather aesthetics of the King football boot with the timeless Easy Rider outsole, available for purchase at $160.

The release of the Avanti sneaker is rooted in Puma’s rich history. It all began in 1968 with the debut of the original Puma King football boot, a game-changer worn by soccer legends like Pelé, Eusébio, and Maradona. Fast forward to 1978, Puma ventured into the world of jogging shoes, eventually giving rise to the iconic Puma Easy Rider.
In a groundbreaking move, Puma and Jil Sander joined forces in 1998, marking the first-ever fashion collaboration that merged these two distinct styles. This partnership resulted in the creation of the Jil Sander King, a design masterpiece that would be the primary inspiration for the Avanti.
In 2001, Puma officially introduced the Avanti. But the story doesn’t end there. In 2023, the Avanti takes on a new dimension as Rihanna infuses her personal taste and creative vision into every aspect of the shoe. This collaboration breathes fresh life into the classic Puma style, making the Avanti a symbol of innovation and style for the modern era.

The Fenty x Puma Avanti reimagines the football aesthetic, featuring luxuriously soft vintage leather. The unisex shoe boasts a fold-over tongue stamped with a gold foiled “Fenty” and Puma cat logo. The sneaker is available in a black-and-white version and a chrome alternative. As a mother of two, Rihanna has made sure that this style is also suitable for children, offering sizes for preschoolers at $95 and infants at $80.
On September 15, the sneakers will be available worldwide on PUMA.COM. Coming sometime this fall, a second Avanti drop will follow.
