Singer and songwriter Victoria Monét recently opened up to fans about her struggles with PCOS on Instagram.

“I am usually so critical and frustrated by it because PCOS has me really messed up, but optimistically at least now there’s two moons on the stage,” she shared on an Instagram story of her recent Coachella performance.

According to the Mayo Clinic, PCOS, polycystic ovary syndrome, is a chronic hormonal condition that occurs when a woman produces an abnormal amount of the male sex hormones known as androgens. This condition can result in irregular or missed menstrual periods, ovarian cysts, weight gain, infertility, and mood swings.

“Welp. I gained a lot of weight, and it went a lot of places, lol, face, arms, tummy and most effectively…datassss,” Monét commented on her body’s changes.

The 35-year-old is also a mother to her three-year-old daughter, Hazel Monét Gaines, who is the youngest Grammy nominee in history. Gaines gained this title for the 2024 Grammy Awards for her feature on her mother’s song “Hollywood.”

While discussing her daughter’s accomplishment with People in December 2023, Monét recalled her pregnancy, “People were telling me how bad of a career move it could be, how detrimental to everything it could be.”

She continued, “Pregnancy, it’s going into unknown territory and no one’s story is the same. So, to have one of the more fearful moments career-wise turn into one of the best moments ever of my career is really magical.”

The singer’s Coachella performance was filled with positive vibes as she sang her hit tracks such as “On My Mama,” “Party Girls,” and “Jaguar.” She also advocated for peace during her set stating, “Stop the wars, stop the hate, stop the genocides, stop motherf-ing hating. Live with love. Stop thinking so small. You need to be thinking big, b-ch. Think big, b-ch.”

The Grammy award-winning artist concluded her Coachella experience with an Instagram carousel captioned, “Damn Coachella, I loved you and you loved me right back. Thank you so much! We had the time of our lives.”

Despite the changes the PCOS has caused to her body, the singer-songwriter continues to live positively and create the music her fans love. You can listen to her songs here.
