TV Girl and George Clanton Release New Summer Music
Indie-pop artists TV Girl and George Clanton collaborated to release two new songs, “Summer 2000 Baby” and “Take a Trip,” on August 6. The carefree lyrics and hazy production perfectly set the scene for a hedonistic August.
“Summer 2000 Baby” is a bouncy, energetic track, showcasing TV Girl’s signature sampling skills by featuring X-Cetra’s “Summer 2000.” The youthful sound of X-Cetra, a Y2K teen pop group, blends with the pool party beats to create a song you’d open the sunroof for. The singer-songwriter behind “Lovers’ Rock” announced the release via social media with a typically tongue-in-cheek caption.

The album artwork is characteristically suggestive and colorful. “Take a Trip” sounds just as sun-soaked as “Summer 2000 Baby” but with a slower start and a more pronounced vaporwave influence, which is no surprise for fans of Clanton, the mind behind ESPRIT.
If you’re enjoying the new singles, you may be in luck. TV Girl teased an upcoming album with Clanton via Facebook, calling it a “rumored collabo record.” Here’s to hoping the duo comes through for their devoted fanbase, who are already celebrating the release online.

TV Girl has certainly been busy, from the artist’s dreamy Lollapalooza set to the European tour ending in late August. The pop artist will join Mitski and Ethel Cain in performing at London’s All Points East Festival. We recommend streaming the new tracks here, preferably with an ice cream novelty on hand.
