Rising alternative-indie musician Ethel Cain officially released her fan-favorite single, “Famous Last Words (An Ode to Eaters),” along with a new music video.

The single, “Famous Last Words (An Ode to Eaters),” was unofficially released last year on SoundCloud. Cain developed the song in the footsteps of the film Bones and All, starring Timothée Chalamet and Taylor Russell.

Similarly, the music video captures the horrific beauty of the film it was based on. Cain co-directed the music video with Silken Weinberg, who helped bring her vision to life. The video showcases a darker side of Cain, transforming the piece into a horror-short with gothic overtones and terrifying imagery.

Cain stunned fans in 2022 with her reinventive debut album, Preacher’s Daughter. The 25-year-old singer is known for her American-gothic style pop, inspired by her religious southern upbringing. Cain also experiments with electronic-pop, incorporating hints of techno into her music.

Former President Barack Obama listed Cain’s “American Teenager” track from her debut album as one of his favorite songs of 2022. The singer is also walking in Miu Miu’s 2023 “LIVE!” campaign alongside Mia Goth, Emma Corrin, and more in anticipation of the brand’s Fall/Winter collection.

Additionally, Cain is known for her strong internet personality. Although the singer left Twitter and TikTok earlier this month, she continues to amaze fans with her artistic Instagram posts.

Cain has also released fall dates for her US tour. The tour includes a much lighter schedule than her last tour, due to medical complications which made Cain unable to perform. The singer has already announced festival performances at Outside Lands, Reading and Leeds, and Austin City Limits. She will also be headlining for boygenius in the UK.
