Tyler, The Creator Releases ‘St. Chroma’ Ahead of New Era
Tyler, The Creator has released a teaser for his latest era. “St. Chroma” sets a darker tone as the rapper prepares for his new album.
As 2025 approaches, Tyler, The Creator has sparked excitement among fans with the release of his latest teaser, signaling the beginning of a new chapter. The rapper unveiled the official teaser for “St. Chroma,” the first track from his upcoming seventh studio album. Accompanied by a music video, the teaser ends with the word “Chromakopia,” hinting at what could be the title of his new project.
The song finds Tyler rapping in a hushed, almost whisper-like tone, proclaiming his dominance with lines like, “I’m the hottest in this b*tch” and referencing his place among the “top ten.” The word “Chromakopia” echoes throughout the track, repeated multiple times before an explosion cuts the song off. Following the blast, “Chromakopia” reappears on screen in black font against a green background, with horns on the title hinting at a darker, more ominous era for the rapper.
While 2024 has been a quieter year for the rapper, in terms of music, he has made waves in the fashion world. With bold collaborations alongside Louis Vuitton and Converse, the “New Magic Wand” rapper has remained in the spotlight. He is also set to make his acting debut in A24’s Marty Supreme, which began filming in New York earlier this month.
Additionally, the rapper collaborated with Pharrell Williams on “VIRGINIA Boy,” part of the soundtrack for Williams’ latest film Piece By Piece. Although Tyler stepped back from releasing music this year, this collaboration has been a highlight for fans eager for new material.
The “Creator’s” last song, “Sorry Not Sorry,” marked the conclusion of his Call Me If You Get Lost era in 2023, a farewell to the sophisticated, vacation-themed vibes of that album. The music video for “Sorry Not Sorry” blended elements from all of his previous eras, signaling a transition into this next phase. Now, with “St. Chroma,” Tyler sets a darker, more mysterious tone. The black-and-white video begins with him in a mask, leading a procession of masked figures behind him.
The identities of those following Tyler in the video remain a mystery, and fans have been buzzing with theories. Some speculate that one of the masked figures could be Frank Ocean, while others think they hear Daniel Caesar’s voice, fueling further speculation. Time will tell which artists might join Tyler in this new era.
