Marvel will be adding the upcoming R-rated film Deadpool 3 to their Cinematic Universe.

Since Marvel was bought out by Disney, it was unclear if the R-rated films would fit in with MCU’s PG-13 films. Prior to this, Deadpool was owned by Fox.

Deadpool 3 will be the first R-rated Disney movie. While the film is not slated to film until 2022 at the soonest, according to Collider, and will likely be released in 2023, the writers are working on the upcoming screenplay. Sister co-writers Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin and Wendy Molyneux have worked together with TV shows such as Bob’s Burgers and The Day I Turned Uncool.

Deadpool continues to be portrayed by Ryan Reynolds and while the rest of the cast for Deadpool 3 has yet to be announced, the fans have taken to Twitter with their top choices. Fan favorites include many Deadpool 2 characters, including Negasonic Teenage Warhead played by Brianna Hildebrand, and her girlfriend Yuki portrayed by Shioli Kutsuna.

Another popular favorite is Zazie Beetz as Domino. Her character has a white circle around her eye because she has the skin condition vitiligo. This choice corresponds with the character in the comics who had pale white skin with a black circle around the eyes.

Reynolds has already started to joke about how Deadpool was accepted into the MCU under the umbrella company of Disney on Twitter.

While it could be a long wait, it will no doubt be worth it. We are definitely curious to see how Deadpool will fit in when it comes to the MCU and Disney family.
