Bebe Rexha has announced a release date for her new album Better Mistakes, set to drop May 7. It’s been a while since Bebe released her debut album Expectations in 2018, which gave us hits like “I’m a Mess” and “Mine.” In that time she has collaborated with artists like Doja Cat and The Chainsmokers, performed at the opening act for the Jonas Brothers’ 2019 Happiness Begins Tour, and was nominated for a Grammy.

During an interview with ABCNews Radio on April 5, Rexha discusses how quarantine provided her the chance to “really slow down” after a few hectic years of global touring and performing. The dance-pop singer has been outspoken on body positivity and living with bipolar disorder, themes that are likely to be present in the album.

Rexha stated, “The same thread throughout the songs is that they all kind of talk about insecurities that I have.” She continued, “Whether it be, like, the fear of not being good enough, or my insecurity of being jealous, and my insecurity of failing, or my insecurity of sabotaging everything in my life.”

Bebe’s honesty in her music and on social media leave fans feeling empowered. Just this week, she posted a video of herself to Instagram asking fans to share their “real bodies” to promote self love.

Not wanting to keep them waiting any longer, Bebe will release the album’s first single “Sabotage” this Friday, April 16. Since the announcement #BETTERMISTAKES has been trending with fans showing their support by pre-saving the upcoming music.

Better Mistakes has been in the works for over a year now, and in October 2020 the Bebe confirmed there will be a visual component to accompany the music. At last year’s red carpet for the Grammy Awards, Bebe revealed that the album is inspired by her mental health journey and after this last year her lyrics are sure to resonate with many.

The self-proclaimed rock star (*Not* pop star as specified by her Instagram and Twitter bio) has been waiting months for the album to drop. For now, we’ll just have to replay this 11-second clip from last April where Bebe teases the upcoming single, “Sabotage“.
