Zara Larsson Teases New Dreamy ‘Blue Moon’ Music Video
Make a wish, because Zara Larsson is about to work some magic. The Swedish pop star is teasing the official music video for her single “Blue Moon,” and the first glimpses promise a whimsical, fairy-tale fantasy unlike anything she has done before.
Larsson surprised fans with the teaser during her September 30 concert at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles, immediately after performing “Blue Moon.” She also gave the visual a major endorsement of her own, calling it her best video yet “by far.”
A Fairy-Tale Fantasy
The teaser leans fully into enchantment, with an ornate blue title card surrounded by mermaids, a fairy, butterflies, and stars setting the storybook tone. Dreamy, ethereal glimpses, from a glowing underwater sequence to a moody, after-dark fairground, hint at a modern fantasy unfolding around the track.
The video is directed by Charlotte Rutherford and produced by Someday Studio, credits confirmed directly in the teaser. Rutherford has become a key creative collaborator in Larsson’s Midnight Sun era, previously directing the striking visuals for “Pretty Ugly” and “Midnight Sun,” with Someday Studio also producing the latter.
The partnership has helped define the colorful visual language surrounding Larsson’s latest era. The singer previously explained that she and Rutherford were simply “having fun” while developing the aesthetic for the “Midnight Sun” video, which drew inspiration from Madonna’s Ray of Light era and internet culture. If the fantastical “Blue Moon” teaser is any indication, the pair is taking that visual imagination somewhere even more magical this time.
Why Fans Are Counting Down
“Blue Moon” originally appeared on Larsson’s 2025 album, Midnight Sun, and the singer has made no secret of wanting the track to have its own moment. “I really want to push ‘Blue Moon’ because I feel like it’s ‘Midnight Sun’s’ sister,” Larsson recently told Billboard, adding that the song “deserves a video and it deserves love.” Now, she is making good on that wish.
The song also received another life this year on Midnight Sun: Girls Trip, Larsson’s 2026 remix and collaboration album featuring an all-woman lineup of artists. The project pairs Larsson with Kehlani for a new version of “Blue Moon,” alongside collaborations with Shakira, Robyn, Tyla, PinkPantheress, JT, Madison Beer, and more.
It is another full-circle flourish for an artist who has long brought a playful visual imagination to her music, from colorful pop productions to increasingly ambitious, high-concept visuals. With Rutherford behind the camera, Someday Studio producing, and Larsson herself calling “Blue Moon” her best video yet, expectations are officially high.
