‘Knives Out 2’ Announces the Casting of Leslie Odom Jr.

Singer and actor Leslie Odom Jr. will star in the sequel to the successful murder mystery Knives Out. Odom joins the franchise alongside fellow newcomers Kathryn Hahn, Janelle Monáe, Edward Norton, and Dave Bautista.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, director Rian Johnson added Leslie Odom Jr. to the famous cast list of Knives Out 2 after his Oscar nomination for his role as Sam Cooke in One Night in Miami.

Odom rose to fame in the theater world as Aaron Burr in Hamilton on Broadway, for which he won the Tony Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical. The actor then went on to star in drama films such as Harriet and Murder on the Orient Express.

Knives Out 2 will begin filming this summer in Greece. Netflix took over the franchise from MRC and Lionsgate with a $469 million deal. Johnson wrote the script and will direct and produce with Ram Bergman. The Knives Out 2 director earned a 2020 Oscar nomination for the Knives Out screenplay, and the film earned $311.4 million at the box office after its release in 2019.

Knives Out 2 is expected to release in 2022. In the meantime, the first film is available on Amazon Prime, and Leslie Odom Jr.’s music is available to stream on Spotify.
