MTV Movie & TV Awards: A Complete List of 2021 Winners

On April 28, MTV announced in a press release that American comedian, Leslie Jones, will be hosting the 2021 MTV Movie & TV Awards. Not only will Jones be the host, but she is also nominated for an award in the category “Best Comedic Performance." The MTV Movie & TV Awards will air on Sunday, May 16 at 9 pm ET/PT.

Live and in person, the 2021 MTV Movie & TV Awards was a show-stopping event hosted by Saturday Night Live alum Leslie Jones and emceed by Snoop Dogg. After an unconventional 2020 MTV awards that honored the greatest of pop culture since the 1980s, the 2021 awards recognized the best of movie and TV that helped entertain us all throughout the last year.

WandaVision took home the most golden popcorns of the night including Best Show and Best Fight. Host Jones accepted the award for Best Comedic Performance, for her role in Coming 2 America and even had a steamy onstage moment with Breakthrough Performance winner Regé-Jean Page. The late Chadwick Boseman was posthumously awarded Best Performance in a Movie for his role in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.

Sacha Baron Cohen (Borat Subsequent Moviefilm) was honored with the Comedic Genius Award, the first recipient to receive the award in five years. Meanwhile, Black Widow actress and five-time MTV award-winner Scarlett Johansson received the notable Generation Award. While accepting her award virtually her husband, Colin Jost, joined his wife onscreen, dumping green slime over the actress.
