Tobey Maguire, Olivia Wilde, and Phoebe Tonkin are the latest actors to join the cast of Babylon from Director Damien Chazelle. Chazelle is best known for writing La La Land, making him the perfect director to tell a story about Hollywood’s golden age. A project under Paramount Pictures, Babylon is set to stream on their platform on Christmas day 2022.

Babylon is best described as “The Great Gatsby on steroids.” The movie will portray the rise and fall of an ensemble group of characters in 1920s Hollywood. Babylon is going to be historical fiction, following the film industry’s transition from silent films to ‘talkies.’

Cast announcements for Babylon have come in waves. It was announced that Margot Robbie and Brad Pitt would star in the movie back in December 2020. Robbie will play Clara Bow, one of the first stars in the silent film era. Pitt is set to play a fictional character based on 1920’s movie star Robert Gilbert.

It’s unclear what roles Maguire, Wilde, or Tonkin will play at this time. But fans are already getting excited about the recent additions to Babylon.

The stacked cast list now includes big names such as Spike Jonze, Diego Calva, Jovan Adepo, Li Jun Li and Katherine Waterston, Samara Weaving, Max Minghella, and more. Meanwhile, Maguire’s role on Babylon extends beyond the camera – he is also one of the film’s executive producers. He will be joined by producer Marc Platt (Dear Evan Hansen, Snow White and the Seven Dwarves) amongst others.

Filming of Babylon is expected to begin next week, so get ready for more exciting updates. For now, check out a rundown on the film so far at Hollywood Reporter.
