On August 6, The Weeknd began a new era by dropping the music video for “Take My Breath.” The music video takes fans on a journey through breath-taking long braids, oxygen tanks, and an energetic dancefloor.

Directed by Cliqua, The “Take My Breath” music video starts out with The Weeknd strutting towards a city, which transitions into him confidently walking down a long hallway. The Canadian artist sings, “I saw the fire in your eyes,” as strobe lights flash across the screen. After, The Weeknd, standing out in a crowd with orange-tinted glasses, is stared down by a woman at an intense dance party. Later on, the mysterious woman uses her long braid to choke the singer. As The Weeknd sings, “Nobody does it better babe. Bring me Close to heaven babe. Take my breath.” he is seen lying unconscious on the ground.

“Take My Breath” was produced by Roisín Audrey Moloney and executive produced by Alli Maxwell and Tim Nash.

According to Pitchfork, “Take My Breath” was set to be shown in IMAX Theaters prior to Suicide Squad screenings. Eventually, the music video was pulled from theaters due to concerns over the strobe light effects, which could potentially cause seizures.
