The “Driver’s License” singer descended from a cloud of balloons in a Marc Jacobs tutu-inspired dress and Doc Martens, paying homage to her ongoing prom theme. After hopping off the cloud, Rodrigo went into her first verse, and fans immediately sang along to Spotify’s Song of the Summer.

Rodrigo got the crowd jumping with her enthusiasm and energy, and she even took a moment to high-five fans in the front row before joining her dancers for a well-choreographed, synchronized section.

Shortly after, the camera angles right above Rodrigo so the viewers at home can see “good 4 u” spelled out with the help of stage props and the dancers laid out in a “U” formation.

Rodrigo and fans sang their heart out to the bridge and final chorus, complete with balloons and confetti canons to contribute to her Sour prom.

The performance ended with a bang, literally. After the final note, Rodrigo gathered all her energy for one last hit that shattered the camera lens, leaving the Barclays Center wanting more.

This performance was just one of the many exciting things for the “Deja Vu” singer. She went into last night’s ceremony with six nominations and left with three wins for categories like Song of the Year, Best New Artist, and Push Performance of the Year.

She took to Instagram to thank her fans for such a magical night; Rodrigo said, “my first vmas!!!! what an incredible night. thank u so much to all of u guys for making this happen. I’m the luckiest gal alive 💜🤘🏼”
