‘Havana’ by Camila Cabello is Now Diamond Certified
Camila Cabello is making history. On Monday, the young singer, 24, became the second Latina artist to be awarded a diamond certificate, with her smash hit “Havana.” Cabello joins Cardi B, who was the first Latina to earn the certificate with her song “Bodak Yellow.” To be diamond certified, an artist’s song must have sold 10,000,000 units or more. Michele Ballantyne, COO of RIAA, was proud of Cabello’s accomplishment. She expressed her eagerness in a statement to People Magazine.

Ballantyne stated, “Havana is just the 62nd Diamond single certified in over 60 years of RIAA Gold & Platinum Awards – a historic achievement that’s only possible when an artist has forged the deepest and most lasting connection with fans, especially with about 60,000 tracks added to streaming service catalogs every day!”
She continued, “It’s also a testament to the incredible partnership between Camila and her team at Epic Records, and no doubt a sign of more great music – and huge awards – to come!”

Cabello took to social media to express her excitement over this achievement.
She wrote on Instagram, “I am HONORED to be the first Hispanic female singer to earn a @riaa_awards Diamond single award and I hope this paves the way for many more incredible Latinx artists!! Thank you to my incredible co-writers and producers Frank Dukes, Ali Tamposi, Andrew Watt, Pharrell, Lou Bell, Brian Lee, Starrah, and Young Thug for being my collaborator on this. and thank you to my amazing fans I love y’all.”

“Havana” featuring Young Thug was released in 2017 after Camila left Fifth Harmony. From there, the song would win many awards including MTV Awards, VMA Awards, and Teen Choice Awards. The song has been streamed 1.66 billion times on Spotify. Since “Havana” Cabello has released an album entitled Romance. Her third album, Familia is in the works and starred in Amazon Prime’s original movie Cinderella. Cabello’s music can be streamed on all music streaming platforms and Cinderella can be streamed on Amazon Prime.
